George Zimmerman’s Wife on 911 Tape: ‘I Am Really, Really Scared’
“I think I’m realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don’t think that I ever really knew him at all,” she said.
Shellie Zimmerman filed for divorce earlier this month, just two months after her husband was acquitted on murder charges related to the 2012 death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.
She said that she had stood by her husband throughout the ordeal that began on Feb. 26, 2012, when he shot and killed the unarmed teenager and came to an end when a Florida jury acquitted him of murder this summer.
“I stood by my husband through everything and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of broken glass that I’m supposed to now assemble and make a life. … It’s just heartbreaking,” Shellie said.
“I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George,” she said.
George Zimmerman’s legal team declined to comment on the divorce proceedings. They did not immediately respond to requests for comment today relating to the domestic incident.

George Zimmerman’s Wife on 911 Tape: ‘I Am Really, Really Scared’
via World News
George Zimmerman was released without charges today after his wife called 911 to say Zimmerman punched his father-in-law in the nose and threatened to shoot him and his wife.
Zimmerman, acquitted in July of the murder of teenager Trayvon Martin, claimed that he was acting in a “defensive manner” during the incident, according to police, who later added that they never found a gun on Zimmerman.
Nevertheless, Zimmerman was handcuffed and questioned by police in Lake Mary, Fla., according to Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell.

He was later released without charges when his wife and father-in-law refused to press charges or give police a sworn statement. Police said they are reviewing surveillance video from the home and reserve the right to file charges later based on the video.
Police said George Zimmerman volunteered the surveillance videos to investigators.
Shellie Zimmerman called 911 shortly after 2 p.m. today and reported that her husband assaulted her father, Colin Morgan, and was waving a gun around and threatening her and her relatives, according to police in Lake Mary, Fla.
Lake Mary police took the call “extremely seriously” and sent eight units, including officers in tactical gear with ballistic shields, to the home, according to Bracknell.
A Lake Mary police official later said Zimmerman did not have a gun, officers never found a gun and that Zimmerman himself said he never had a gun on him.
“We did not take a gun at all, because there was no reason to take a gun, because his gun was in his truck,” Bracknell said.
Shellie Zimmerman, police said, told them she never saw a gun but saw George Zimmerman’s hands near where she believed he would have had a weapon.
Shellie Zimmerman Tells Why She Filed for Divorce
In the 911 call, Shellie Zimmerman tells a dispatcher that her husband was in his car raging, adding “he continually has his hand on his gun and he says step closer…” When Shellie Zimmerman trails off the dispatcher asks “step closer and what?” to which Shellie responds “a step closer and he’d shoot us.”
Zimmerman, who claimed self-defense after he shot and killed Martin, told police in a statement that he was acting in “a defensive manner” during the incident and did not have his hand on his gun, according to Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson.
Shellie Zimmerman and her father said they do not want to press charges, Bracknell said. Both Shellie’s lawyer, Kelly Sims, as well as George Zimmerman’s lawyer were at the home, ABC News has learned.
The 911 tapes describe a terrified Shellie Zimmerman. On the call to a police dispatcher she told police that her husband punched her father in the nose, smashed her iPad, cut it with a pocketknife and raged, “one step closer and he’d shoot us.”
“I don’t know what he’s capable of. I am really, really scared,” she told the dispatcher.
When police arrived she could be heard on the phone saying, “Dad, get behind a car or something. I don’t know if he’s going to start shooting at us or not.” George Zimmerman Feels ‘Invincible,’ His Wife Tells ABC News The incident came just days after Shellie Zimmerman told ABC News that she was not sure she “ever really knew” her husband through their seven years of marriage and she felt she was the victim of verbal abuse by him. She also said she believed the not guilty verdict left her husband feeling “invincible” and since then he had been “making some reckless decisions.”
Zimmerman’s wife won’t press charges despite call
George Zimmerman, right, is escorted to a home by a Lake Mary police officer on Monday, Sept. 9, in Lake Mary, Fla., after a domestic incident in the neighborhood where Zimmerman and his wife Shellie had lived.
Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell says Shellie Zimmerman called police shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.
ORLANDO, Fla. — The estranged wife of a former neighborhood watchman acquitted in the shooting the death of a black teenager called police officers to her father’s house on Monday, saying her husband threatened her and her father with a gun.
Zimmerman’s wife calls 911, won’t press charges
Shellie Zimmerman called police shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, said Police Chief Steve Bracknell. In the call, she said George Zimmerman punched her father in the nose, grabbed an iPad out of her hand and smashed it and threatened them both with a gun.
Shellie Zimmerman, who has filed for divorce, initially told an emergency dispatcher that her husband had his hand on his gun as he sat in his car outside the home she was at with her father. She said she was scared because she wasn’t sure what Zimmerman was capable of doing. But hours later she changed her story and said she never saw a firearm, said Bracknell.
Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara said his client never made a threat with a gun and that the dispute between was the result of heightened emotions from their ongoing divorce.
George Zimmerman was not arrested, Bracknell said. He said the estranged husband and wife blamed each other for starting the fight but that Shellie Zimmerman would not press charges.
Raw: Fla. police called on George Zimmerman
Police were still investigating the encounter as a domestic dispute, but no charges had been filed Monday afternoon. George Zimmerman, wearing a flannel shirt, baseball cap and with sunglasses on, left the home after being questioned by police.
Shellie Zimmerman said in a divorce petition filed last week that she and her husband separated a month after Zimmerman was acquitted of any crime for fatally shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last July in Sanford, just a few miles away from Lake Mary. Zimmerman’s acquittal led to protests nationwide.

Shellie Zimmerman was asking that her husband pay for a permanent life insurance policy with her named as the beneficiary, according to the divorce petition.
In an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America” that aired last Friday, Zimmerman said her husband left her with “a bunch of pieces of broken glass” after the acquittal. She said he only stayed in their house three or four nights since the trial ended and that they even tried counseling. But she moved out Aug. 13.
“I have a selfish husband and I think George is all about George,” she said.
George Zimmerman and his lawyers have made no public statements on the divorce proceedings. An email to Zimmerman’s lawyers weren’t immediately answered.
George Zimmeran’s brother Robert Zimmerman Jr., tweeted that “we’ve learned from GZ case not to ‘jump to conclusions,’ to wait for facts, & to avoid speculation. ‘News’ is a business — not your friend.”
Last month, Shellie Zimmerman, 26, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor perjury charge for lying about the couple’s finances during a bail hearing following her husband’s arrest after Martin’s shooting.
George Zimmerman, 29, said he acted in self-defense when he killed Martin and the polarizing case opened up national discussions on self-defense laws and race. Martin was black. Zimmerman has a white father and Hispanic mother.
Shellie Zimmerman was sentenced to a year’s probation and 100 hours of community service. Her husband did not attend the sentencing hearing in the Sanford courtroom.
Zimmerman has been involved with a domestic case at least once before. In 2005, Zimmerman’s former fiancee filed for a restraining order against Zimmerman, alleging domestic violence. Zimmerman responded by requesting a restraining order against his then-fiancee.
Since his acquittal, Zimmerman has gotten a speeding ticket in Florida and was pulled over on suspicion of speeding on a highway near Dallas but not ticketed.
Forney police stopped Zimmerman as he drove west on U.S. 80, about 20 miles east of Dallas. A police dashcam video released July 31 shows an officer interacting with Zimmerman and letting him go with a warning.
The officer can be heard saying, “Just take it easy. Go ahead and shut your glove compartment. Don’t play with your firearm.”
Although the officer’s comments indicated Zimmerman had a gun, a weapon can’t be seen and it’s not clear that he had one. However, Zimmerman had a concealed weapons permit in Florida that would be also recognized under Texas law. The gun used in Martin’s shooting remains in the custody of the federal government, which is looking into a possible civil rights case.

There’s no doubt about it: sex after 50 rocks! But I wouldn’t expect you to just take my word for it, or my sex advice, so I’ve asked around. Now I can say with certainty, straight from the mouths of sexually-fulfilled people over 50, that sex after 50 rocks and maybe I can inspire you to embrace the sexual advice of these experts.
They say 50 is the new 30. I say no thanks! I wouldn’t want to be 30 again if you paid me. Sure, I had more energy then and I could still eat what I wanted without gaining weight. But in my 30s, I was in the middle of a divorce, raising a baby and reinventing a career. Who even remembers what sex was like then? Life was busy! Pleasure was a good night’s sleep or hiring a babysitter so I could go and watch TV undisturbed at my best friend’s place. So sex at 30 wasn’t so great… why does sex after 50 rock? Continue reading…

Russia FM: Syria to give up chemical weapons |
(RNN) – A Russian news agency reported Tuesday that Syria would surrender its chemical weapons to international control, according to Russia’s foreign minister.
“Yesterday [Monday] we held a round of very fruitful negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, said Syria’s foreign minister, Walid Muallem, “and he put forward an initiative regarding chemical weapons. Already in the evening we accepted Russia’s initiative.”
Sen. John McCain said earlier Tuesday on CBS This Morning that Russia’s proposal to have Syria turn over their chemical weapons needs time to “play out.”
McCain, who has been an advocate for missile strikes, said diplomacy should not be ignored.
According to the AP, McCain will amend the Senate resolution to allow for Syria to surrender the chemical weapons – which Assad has never publicly acknowledged that he used.
On Aug. 30, Secretary of State John Kerry presented an unclassified report, saying chemical weapons were used to kill 1,429 Syrians, including 426 children.
Allegations of who has used chemical weapons have been leveled at all sides; the Syrian military, the rebels and al-Qaeda fighters.
Kerry said the unclassified report debunked the theory that rebels used chemical weapons on themselves in an attempt to involve the U.S. in the conflict.
Americans oppose Syria action
President Barack Obama had planned to speak to the American public to make his case for a limited military strike against Syria. Polls showed most were staunchly against any military action.
Gallup and Pew Research Center found more than half of the people polled said they were opposed to the U.S. taking military action in Syria following recent chemical weapons attacks.
A Gallup poll, conducted from Sept. 3 to 4, indicated 51 percent of Americans opposed taking action against Syria. Only 36 percent were in favor of military action, while 13 percent were unsure.
Gallup showed that, when compared to support for past conflicts, public support for Obama’s proposal on Syria is low. It was “on track to be among the lowest for any intervention Gallup has asked about in the last 20 years.”
Results from the Pew Research Center/USA Today poll showed similar results with regard to military action against Syria; 63 percent said they oppose Syrian air strikes, up from the 48 percent in a poll a few days earlier. Those in favor of military action were 28 percent, slightly down from the previous 29 percent. And only 9 percent were still undecided, down significantly from 29 percent.
Pew went in depth with its questions, including asking who should have final authority on the Syria decision. Of those polled, 61 percent said Congress should have the final say in Syria. Only 30 percent believed the president should have the final say, with 9 percent unsure.
When broken down by political affiliation, 75 percent of Republicans, along with 64 percent of independents, said Congress should have the final say on Syria action. Only 45 percent of Democrats believed the decision should be left to Congress.
One thing most poll responders agree upon is that the U.S. has no good options when it comes to dealing with the situation in Syria.
A majority of those who were in favor of air strikes believed the U.S. must do so in order to “show that the use of chemical weapons is unacceptable.” Even so, many believed air strikes will likely “make things in the Middle East worse.”
Additionally, the Pew Research Center/USA Today poll showed Obama’s approval rating has dropped, and his foreign policy rating has hit an all-time low. Obama’s overall job approval was at 44 percent for the first time in more than a year. His foreign policy rating was at 33 percent.
Only 9 percent of Republicans and 27 percent of independents approved of how Obama was handling foreign policy, while 62 percent of Democrats approved.
