You have got to hand to Beyonce, she definitely knows how to promote her music independently. She strolled into a WalMart in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, grabbed a shopping cart and went through the store to see a display of her latest album on the store shelves. As you probably know, Target, a store Beyonce was always fond of, declared it would not carry her album since she decided to release it exclusively on iTunes for the first week. Well, Bey threw some major shade at Target by strolling into a WalMart store to shop.

She was smiling and greeting patrons of the store as she pushed a shopping cart through the aisles, even taking a moment to grab a toy off the shelf for her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Beyonce stayed long enough to hug and kiss some children and even threw her CD in her shopping cart to buy her own personal copy. When she reached the checkout counter she asked to make an announcement over the public address system. Her announcement made more than 700 WalMart shoppers’ day just a little bit brighter. Beyonce announced she would be giving everyone in the store a special holiday gift. She would be paying the first $50 of their shopping bill that day, a total of $37,500.

The announcement was met with loud cheers and excitement by shoppers hearing the message. Undoubtedly, I’ll venture to say that many of them probably purchased her CD if they hadn’t already. What a great Christmas gift for those shoppers in Massachusetts.

Beyonce isn’t hurting at all from Target’s decision not to carry her album in their stores. But ironically, they kind of do have it available in their stores anyway. Because Beyonce has a deal with 7000 Starbucks locations across the country to sell her CDs and guess what, Starbucks are located inside most Target Stores!

Target wasn’t the only retailer that was upset over Beyonce’s secret online album launch. Amazon also decided that it would not carry the album, however fans can still purchase the mp3 through third party retailers on the website.

Beyonce latest project has already sold 1 million copies and is predicted by Billboard to sell another 260,000 to 280,000 in its second week of sales. If it happens, Beyonce will top the charts for a second consecutive week.
