Dwyane Wade & Siohvaughn Funches-Wade Reach Divorce Settlement

Posted by on July 23, 2013

via Gossip Extra:A judge in Wade’s native Chicago signed off on a post-divorce settlement that includes the ball player giving ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches $5 million, the couple’s marital home near the Windy City and four cars.

The settlement also calls for the former love birds not to disparage one another and they could be fined if they do.

Funches appeared unhappy with the deal, which caused Wade’s legal eagles to remind the public of their constant claims that Funches is mentally unstable!

D-Wade, 31, was dealing with the post-divorce issues throughout the recent NBA playoffs and finals, even dragging Heat President Pat Riley into it: Funches’ lawyers in South Florida embarrassed the team by having process servers bring a subpoena to Riley at the American Airlines Arena.

Riley was grilled about the inner workings of Wade’s contract a couple weeks ago in Coral Gables.

The court in Chicago, meanwhile, was scheduled to hold a trial through most of this month, with dozens of witnesses to be deposed.

As Gossip Extra reported exclusively in May, Wade was already paying Funches, the mother of Wade’s two boys, $25,000 per month plus her traveling expenses to visit the boys.

Funches lost custody of Zion and Zaire in 2011 but gets to see them on some weekends.

On Friday, Funches staged a protest against what she claims was pressure from the court to settle. She sat in front of the Cook County courthouse in obviously expensive duds with a sign claiming she lives on the streets (see the video below).

In a statement, Wade’s attorney called the settlement “very generous.”

“Dwyane Wade has made several requests over the years to settle this matter, despite Ms. Funches having 16 different attorneys and 2 arrests throughout this process,” attorney James Pritikin wrote. “Mr. Wade has provided a very generous settlement to Ms. Funches to continue to live a wonderful lifestyle for the rest of her life.

“Despite false allegations by Ms. Funches claiming to be ‘homeless’ and ‘destitute,’ Dwyane Wade has maintained over the years financial support to his ex-wife by providing her with income over $25,000 on a monthly basis, timely paid for her home mortgage, maintenance and security at the house, 4 cars, insurance, taxes and all of her attorney fees throughout this process.

“Ms. Funches has made a mockery of homelessness, which is a serious and personal issue for Mr. Wade as his mother was homeless for a period of time when he was a child. Dwyane Wade was awarded sole custody of their sons by the court in 2011. The safety and well-being of his children are his main priority. Due to Ms. Funches’ current unstable mental state, her visitation will be determined by the court. Mr. Wade continues to hope that one day he will have a civil relationship with his ex-wife for the sake of their sons.”
