POLICE: Mid-South man infects hundreds with HIV

(WMC-TV) – A growing health concern among Mid-South residents has some worried.

According to police in Southeast Missouri, more people are coming forward with concerns of being exposed to HIV.

Investigators stated David Mangum admitted to having hundreds of partners with 50 to 60 partners in Stoddard County alone. Mangum has been charged with reckless exposure to HIV.

Dr. Shane Speights from St. Bernard’s Medical Center is concerned some infected people will not realize they have the virus for months or years. He is advising all of Mangum’s partners to be tested.

“So, all of these individuals that have had contact with this man are gonna need to be tested and maybe even tested again,” stated Speights.

Speights confirmed all of the tests are confidential.

“That’s not something that usually an attorney can even get a hold of without going through a lot of hoops and a lot of red tape,” said Speights.

Officers declared Mangum told them he has know he was infected with HIV since 2003. Mangum continued to explain he has had 300 partners since then.

HIV is usually transferred during intimate relationships and contact with blood.

The Call of the Wild, Jack London, 1903
Generally hailed as Jack London’s best work, The Call of the Wild is commonly challenged for its dark tone and bloody violence. Because it is seen as a man-and-his-dog story, it is sometimes read by adolescents and subsequently challenged for age-inappropriateness. Not only have objections been raised here, the book was banned in Italy, Yugoslavia and burned in bonfires in Nazi Germany in the late 1920s and early 30s because it was considered “too radical.”

I love Uncle Remas. I never had the books but my Grana had the story vinyls and I listened all the time. They were lost when she moved to FL. What a bummer.

Arizona banned countless books on the topic of ethnic studies three years ago with the passage of House Bill 2281. Public schools in Arizona are prohibited from teaching the topic of ethnic studies or assigning books on the topic.
I think of book bans as such an antiquated and backwards idea, so it’s surprising when such a large governing body in the 21st century United States can enact such a huge ban.

My friend Shannon recommends this community.  Might I suggest we also include thought provoking and informative banned or limited release movies as well.  Specially of the documentaries categories that the puppet masters do not want people to see.

Hi Philippe. There is definitely a discussion to be had about banned movies, one which I’m sure we’d all love to participate in. However, so as not to spread focus too thin, we’re just concentrating on books on this page. Feel free to include controversial movie adaptations of challenged books in any discussions you want to have here, though.

Apparently “Bridge to Terabithia” gets banned?  This is one harsh book so I’m not surprised it gets a strong reaction.  But the reasons why it gets banned are interesting — quite a good article about this.

Dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen.
Where they have burned books, they will end in burning human beings.
          — Christian Johann Heinrich Heine (1797-1856).

Heine died 77 years before 25,000 ‘unsuitable’ books were burned by a self-righteous crowd…a crowd that cheered Joseph Goebbels as he decried the “decadence and moral corruption” these books represented, demanding that censors protect “decency and morality in family and state” when deciding which books they allowed to be printed in the future.

Just eight years after this literary ‘cleansing’ event, Heine’s startling prediction came insanely true. Even so, eight decades later, many in the new self-righteous crowd continue to cheer – and repeat – Goebbels’ words. Frightening. #bannedbooksweek

Why would anyone want to ban “The Kite Runner”? I loved that book and don’t recall anything particularly egregious about it.

Pastor Background Checker

Sure he can preach, but is he living a righteous life?

Another Minister Spreads HIV
First Phillip Britton – Now Craig Lamar Davis

PimpPreacher.com Atlanta 08/29/2012

To all of the Preacher loving groupies out there how do you feel about “Touch not God’s anointed now” after a preacher has infected women in his church with HIV? Craig Lamar Davis was arrested, and charged with knowingly infecting another person with AIDS.

Craig Lamar Davis belongs to a linage of ministers  accused of sexual crimes or has flat out infected another person with HIV. As more victims of Craig Lamar Davis come forward it got us wondering how one man could convince so many women to lay down on the same air mattress.

That’s right, the pastor had a secret love apartment where he would meet members from his church to have sex, and on this same air mattress they all received the HIV Virus.

What is equally disturbing is a quote from Pastor Davis describing how this entire scandal is nothing more than an attack of the enemy. Davis has also said that he will use this attack of the enemy to birth a ministry dealing with HIV. For the first time since we started PimpPreacher.com, I am at a loss of words!!

CHURCH FOLK REVOLUTION

Full Gospel Church Pastor Rebukes Claims of Ga. Minister Spreading HIV

Craig Lamar Davis Accused by Women in Atlanta Congregation of Infecting Them With Disease

By Christine Thomasos, Christian Post Reporter
September 3, 2012|8:54 am

Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, lead pastor of the Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., recently clarified reports about a minister believed to be spreading HIV in his congregation.

While several media outlets reported that Craig Lamar Davis, a married minister in Atlanta, was allegedly spreading HIV to some of his mistresses who were also congregants of Full Gospel Baptist Church, Morton revealed that there was much more to the story. Morton took to Twitter to let people know that Davis was not a minister in the church, but the husband of his executive assistant.

In fact, Morton said Davis was never a member of Full Gospel Baptist.

“Someone is putting out wrong information about Full Gospel. The man mentioned has never joined my church,” Morton tweeted on Wednesday. “He’s not a pastor in Full Gospel. I am praying for the gentleman trying to destroy my name and Full Gospel’s name. Believe me if it was a Full Gospel problem I would handle it.”

The lead pastor called for people to pray for his executive assistant who is now dealing with her husband’s infidelity and illness being in media headlines across the nation.

“The lady complaining had (an) affair with my executive assistant’s husband, now she says he’s HIV (positive),” Morton revealed. “My assistant needs prayer she’s suffering most.”

While several news outlets reported that Davis was arrested last month for reckless conduct after allegedly spreading the human immunodeficiency virus to several women outside of his marriage, Morton said he was no longer bothered by the story after sharing his truth on Twitter.

“What I shared with (you) Wed. was FYI (for) those who may not know me,” Morton tweeted. “I said what I said and it’s over. It’s not bothering me don’t let it bother you.”
