Washington (seen with his wife Jenisa Marie Garland) has supported marriage equality on the years since the scandal.

It ended with Washington reportedly using the word “f****t” during an on-set argument with Patrick Dempsey, in reference to Knight.

He allegedly used it again in the press room at the 2006 Golden Globes after the series scooped Best Drama Series. Months later he was let go due to the fallout.

Showrunner Shonda Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter it was important for the story that Burke returned to bid farewell to Yang.

“It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should,” she said.

Ophelia DeVore, “Black Is Beautiful” Pioneer, Dead At 93

ophelia devore diesHistory-maker Ophelia DeVore (pictured), one of the first African-American models in the U.S., and owner of the the legendary Grace Del Marco Modeling Agency and The Ophelia DeVore School of Self-Development and Modeling, passed away Friday at age 93 from stroke complications at a New York City hospice, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.

DeVore pioneered the “Black is Beautiful” movements, two famous institutions, provided lessons in modeling, etiquette, poise and posture, ballet, speech and self-presentation (including grooming lessons in hair styling, applying makeup and dressing in flattering clothes) and supported the social and professional aspirations of tens of thousands illustrious students such as Diahann Carroll, Cicely Tyson, Richard Roundtree, Gail Fisher, Susan Taylor, Gil Noble and Faith Evans.

DeVore was born on August 22, 1922 in Edgefield, S.C. She was one of ten children. DeVore’s parents were of German, French, Native American and African-American heritage. She attended segregated schools in the South until 1933 when she was sent to New York City to live with an aunt. She managed to earn a high school diploma from the Big Apple’s prestigious and highly competitive Hunter College High School and went on to major in mathematics at New York University.

In 1938, DeVore caught the modeling bug after friends and family urged her to try her hand at it, particularly since she had a background in dance. At the time, Blacks were depicted very stereotypically in print media and DeVore decided to make it her mission to change the unflattering images.

In 1938, DeVore began taking on small hair care modeling jobs because these were the only ones being offered to Black models at the time, and the assignments were few and far in between. At age 16, DeVore decided that she needed more formal training in order to become a better– and, perhaps–more employable model, so she enrolled at New York City’s Vogue School of Modeling, which did not serve a Black clientele at the time.

At the time of enrollment, school officials did not know that DeVore was a Black woman, so she was able to slip through and hone her modeling skills. DeVore did not feel a need to broadcast to the school’s officials her race because she knew what the consequences would be. Modeling was in its infancy stages during the mid-forties and DeVore wanted to jump on this new vehicle and use it to eventually help propel her people, so mum had to be the word.

After completing the modeling school, DeVore got wind that a new Black magazine was in need of models, so she decided to pay Ebony a call. The young model then began working for Ebony exclusively. After being called for a few assignments, DeVore then truly began to see how Black women were not being recognized in mainstream media for their beauty and she felt compelled to change this way of thinking.

In 1946 with the help of four friends, DeVore opened Grace del Marco Modeling Agency and in 1948 she created the Ophelia DeVore School of Self-Development and Modeling. Besides creating opportunities to showcase African-Americans in magazines, on the runway and at pageants and fashion shows, DeVore started marketing to non-white audiences.

As part of this project, she produced a mega promotional campaign for the Johnson & Johnson corporation that launched the career of supermodel Helen Williams. In 1955, DeVore and her models made history as hosts of ABC’s weekly television show, “Spotlight on Harlem.”

It was the first television program in New York produced by and for African-Americans. She made history again in 1959 and 1960 when two of her clients, Cecilia Cooper and LaJeune Hundley, were the first Americans, Black or White, to win titles at the Cannes Film Festival.

DeVore continued to make history and alter the way the beauty industry viewed Black women throughout the years. She once sued Life Magazine after it published a story in 1969 on Black models for which she was interviewed; the resulting article cited White-owned agencies instead. Devore also created a makeup line for women of color and developed and produced the first beauty pageant for Black women here in the U.S. She was the owner and publisher of The Columbus Times, based in Columbus, Ga., and a founder of The Black Press Archives at Howard University.

The legend, who has received over 200 awards and who was bestowed with the prestigious honor of being named one of the 75 Black women who, in 1989, have positively impacted and changed the world as part of the famed “I Dream A World Series,” leaves behind five children and 21 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

DNA test on fatherhood of Brandon Howard may actually match with Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson’s father

The test first made an alleged link to the King of Pop, but a source close to the Daily News said the Jackson patriarch is actually the father of Howard, who is believed to be referenced in Michael Jackson’s 1982 hit ‘Billie Jean’ with the line: ‘The kid is not my son.’ However, singer Augie Johnson has also claimed to be Howard’s dad.

Revealed: Michael Jackson had a secret son!

But wait: Maybe it was his secret brother!

Hang on: It could also be none of the above!

Organizers of an off-the-wall DNA test claimed on Thursday to have proven that Michael Jackson is the biological father of singer Brandon Howard.

At first, the DNA test allegedly showed that aspiring singer Brandon Howard is Michael Jackson's son, but a source said the father is actually Jackson patriarch Joe Jackson.

But a source close to the Jackson clan told the Daily News that it was Joe Jackson — the King of Pop’s pop — who is the actual father.

Howard, who is believed to have been born in 1981, has long been rumored to be the child Jackson referenced in the 1982 hit “Billie Jean” with the line: “The kid is not my son.”

The Jackson family has long been aware of speculation that Howard is Michael Jackson’s son. They just don’t buy it.

“I’ve been hearing for years that Brandon is Joe’s son,” the source said.

Confusing the issue more is that singer Augie Johnson has declared that he is Howard’s real father, the International Business Times reported. Augie, 65, was a backup singer on Michael Jackon’s 1979 album, “Off The Wall.”

Attempts to reach Howard, who does not have a birth certificate, were not immediately successful. His mother, 53-year-old pop singer Miki Howard, was reportedly repped by Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson in the 1980s. She also appeared in the 1993 movie “Poetic Justice” with Janet Jackson.

The genetic mystery — is he Jacko’s son or his brother — reached a bizarre peak at a press conference in Beverly Hills on Thursday that was organized by shipping heir Alki David and streamed live on his FilmOn.com website. Brandon Howard wasn’t present for the hyped announcement but confirmed in a Facebook post that he gave a DNA sample for the test.

Dr. Joseph Goodman, a Beverly Hills dental surgeon, revealed the results, and claimed he obtained a sample of Michael Jackson’s DNA from a dental device that had belonged to the “Thriller” singer. He purchased the device at auction.

Goodman pulled a piece of paper from an envelope and said the test showed the “probability” of the King of Pop being a parental match was “99.9 percent.”

Brandon Howard was allegedly conceived during a dalliance between the King of Pop's dad and singer Miki Howard, 53, a source tells the Daily News.

“I think we have the proof,” Goodman declared.

Despite Goodman’s claim, the paperwork did not include the names of the test subjects or the name of a testing lab, but David told viewers such tests are typically done anonymously and that other information was redacted as a security safeguard.

“I’m sure that there will be doubters and there will be haters and there will be those who create, build a controversy, but it is what it is,” David said.

Jackson estate lawyer Howard Weitzman didn’t see things that way, however.

“It sounds like a fraud to me,” Weitzman told the Daily News later Thursday.

Brandon Howard has admitted Michael Jackson is a big inspiration for his work, but he claimed Thursday he had nothing to do with David’s press conference.

“I’ve never self-proclaimed to be Michael Jackson’s son,” he said in a Facebook video. “I’m definitely not suing the estate. I’m taken care of very well. And also, I make my own cash, OK?”

Former child actor Corey Feldman, who was pals with Michael Jackson during his moonwalking heyday, attended David’s press conference and told The News he believes The Gloved One is the father.

“Personally, I do, because I’ve never met two people who were more alike in my life,” Feldman, 42, said.
