Teenage suspect arrested in 11-year-old girl’s death
 

GOSNELL, AR (KAIT) – A teenage suspect has been arrested during the investigation of an 11-year-old girl’s body who was in a ditch Wednesday morning in Mississippi County.

According to Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook, a 17-year-old suspect was arrested late Wednesday night and will be charged as an adult. No names have been released at this time.

Jessica Williams went missing Tuesday night around 6 p.m. but was not reported missing until 9p.m.

Mississippi County Sheriffs Department has been leading the investigation.

“Her father reported that he last saw her playing outside of his home on County Road 503,” said Sheriff Dale Cook.

Cook said the girl’s home was only about 5 miles from where she was found this morning.

“The young girl’s bicycle was found near her home although her body was found in an area not easy to drive or walk to,” Cook said. “An investigation into her death is going.”

The body of Jessica Williams was found in a floodway ditch just off Mississippi County Road 122 near Big Lake around 6:30 a.m.

Williams’ body is being sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine cause of death.
