In an interview with Maranda Pleasant, editor of ORIGIN Magazine, Ziggy Marley, the oldest son of reggae legend Bob Marley, talked about love, music and what inspires him the most.

When asked by Pleasant what inspired him the most, Marley replied that the answer was God. He added that God’s universe inspires him like nothing else and it would be hard for him to explain why.

Marley went on to say when asked about love, that love was many things also. He added that he thought love was mostly about actions, by showing sharing and compassion and by giving and receiving.

Love can never have a negative effect, according to Marley and love includes the love of animals, the planet and a person. Love is also bringing words of comfort or joy to someone and helping them in their time of trouble, he added.

Pleasant asked Marley what he did with emotional pain and he told her that he was his own psychologist. “I would say that accepting whatever it is, whatever thing I’m going through, and then letting it go. Continually moving forward in terms of process. I don’t linger on it too much, you know. I need to move forward,” he said.

Marley continued that he deals with emotional pain by exercising, like going running or other strenuous activities. Another way of dealing with emotional stress is to do something that is productive, according to Marley. Get your mind clearer by doing something that is positive and productive, he added.

Marley was then asked about his forthcoming children’s book “I Love You, Too,” and why he wanted to create a book like this.

Marley stated that the idea for the book came from one of his albums, “Family Time” in which the song “I Love You, Too” was a positive affirmation of his love for kids. He added that he thought he could be most useful to society and the planet by doing things for children and he wouldn’t mind doing more.

Pleasant then asked Marley about his new album for release and he replied that he had just released a live album which was a compilation of some of his shows while he was touring. He added that he was going to be doing shows in Brazil and Mexico in the near future.
